I had fallen asleep in the chest of the Wonder Bat. Her name was Madeline and her warm chest and calm heartbeat relaxed me into a slumber. She would have been a good mother if she had the chance, and I hope she does get the chance to meet the perfect man.
The doors of the van swinged open and many monsters pulled us out, lining us up like slaves. I didn’t give two shits to see what they looked like or what they were. They were all the same to me:  cold, heartless, cruel, suited, bastards. They all grunted and shoved us, yelling us to get going. We walked single file inside tall black steel gates, towards a tall gray fat building which ate every circus performer that passed through it’s gaping two-doored mouth.
Each circus performer was taken down halls by a guard, and led into rooms with tall and very wide metal doors which had small squares to peer inside. I was taken into a room alone with a tall demon, which had dark red skin, and eyes of fire which curled around his low thick hairless eyebrows. He had two nubby horns on his forehead which were black. He did not speak but stood close to me, making my heart race from the nerve and rush to get into the room.
The room had white thick walls, a huge oblong “mirror” was on the far wall, which was right in view of a long metal table and two matching chairs. I sat down in a chair, not wanting to be forced into it. The man still didn’t talk and it angered me, making my face flush with anger.
Right when i was about to demand answers from this demon boy, the door creaked open loudly. A very abnormally tall man walked in with a long white lab coat, deathly colored skin with stitched up limbs, and goggles over his eyes. He pulled them over his bald head, showing off his pure white eyes.
“Hello, my name is Mr. Ferdinand, but you can call me Al.” He took a seat in the chair across from me, and grinned widely, trying to be friendly. That smile full of sharp white teeth could never comfort me, even if we were married and in love. “I’m going to ask you a few simple questions, okay? What's your name son?” he asked as he got his clipboard and pen ready.
I worked up a good loogy and spat at him from across the table, it landing inches away from his clipboard. Mr. Ferdinand jumped in shock from my disrespectful action, and that made me grin wickedly. “I’m not your son,” I spoke with as much venom as my voice could muster.
Mr. Ferdinand stared at me with wide white eyes, and even without color, from how the light catches their wetness, I knew his eyes wandered me in confusion. “I-I’m sorry if I disrespected you. I just want to ask a few things, and no harm will be don-”
I burned like the blue strength of a flame, my face red with anger. “No harm done?! You want to talk about no harm done?! You destroyed my family! You killed half of my family, my circus! You hurt my father, you killed the girl I loved! Now tell me how that isn’t harm done?” I glared at him, with watery eyes. I began to cry from my vervor of emotions flowing through me as I remembered the chaos caused to my beautiful family.
“I’m sorry, I never wanted to cause anyone harm or to your...family.”
“Why did you do it then?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!” I screamed at him as I stood up, my arms still tied behind my back. “My own father couldn’t help me! You....You could have killed him!” the Guard grabbed my shoulders and forced me down to the chair, and I fought against his strong hands.
“Please, Alverk, let him go,” Mr. Ferdinand said calmly with a raised hand. He looked deep into my angered eyes with his white eyes. I could see he actually cared, he didn’t want this, and he felt horrible, but I had no time to care for him. These monsters hurt and killed many. “Son, I did this because it’s what this organization does. You see, we saw this Circus as a harm to the immortals. As if keeping them like pets. We take endangered immortals and take them within our care to make them live a peaceful, free, healthy life. A Circus is no place for a young boy as yourself. The people of ICR are only here to protect you; all of you. I’m so sorry our men hurt you. I promise you, that everyone who was taken in will be taken great care of.”
I began to sob. This didn’t make sense. James told them, we weren’t endangered and perfectly healthy! None of this was adding up. A Circus is a family! We even treated the animals, completely normal horses and elephants, with great care and love. I could name every animal in the our circus! They were pets! Completely part of the family! We even had a huge house together. Jobs. Home school! A FAMILY!
“I want to see my Dad!” I said through my saddened babbling and deep gasps.
“Who is your father?” He asked calmly.
“Reck...He’s tall, has two black ram horns. Straps...Straps everywhere.” I struggled to talk about him, it made me sadder. What if they killed him?
Mr. Ferdinand nodded and stood up, gently stroking my back. I flinched at first, but allowed it. He was the only one of this ICR shit that I could trust, and really, all I had at the moment. “Are you willing to answer some questions if we allow you to visit with your father?”
My muscles tensed. Was he...using me? Was he threatening me? I stopped in mid-sob and glared at him. “You will let me see him, no matter what, right?” I said darkly.
He nodded untrustworthy. “Yes, of course. But we still need to know about you. such as your name, what type of immortal you are. It will help us, and you.”
“You don’t deserve to know my name.” I glared at him, wanting to spit on his polished black shoes and rip his tie with my teeth.
He sighed in defeat. “Very well. Alverk, take him to the Spades cells and find a spare room for him, please.” Alverk grunted and took my shoulder. I stood without a fight and went with him. I was completely broken and sobbed the whole way there.
We went down a hall and a few steps to a lower region of this huge building. The hall was dark, with wood floors and hotel wallpapered walls. I was led to a door, the room was labeled with a goldened Spades and a following seven on the door. Alverk opened the door with a key and put me inside. The room looked like a hotel room, with a huge king sized bed in the middle of the room, a TV, and a dresser.
“This is your room. Spades 7,” the man spoke, his voice cracking like fire. “Here is your key, but doors lock at 9. Tomorrow morning, a student will come and give you some flyers, breakfast, and some clothing. Have a good night.” He undid my handcuffs which made my mind feel less heavy and my tail could finally move again. It wiggled to test it’s motability, and soon wrapped around me in comfort. He turned and left, shutting the door behind himself. I sat down on the bed and began to cry. Feeling like a trapped soul in hell. I felt so uncomfortable here. I wanted my Dad. I wanted him to hold me and tell me it was going to be okay.
I curled up under the thick comforter of the king sized bed. I thought of ways to see my father tonight. I could teleport, but I can’t teleport without knowing a sense of direction, and my teleporting could be weak from how mentally weak I am. So I tried to call to him with my thoughts, hoping he’d pick up on my inner voice.
After 5 minutes of sobs and screaming mental calls to my dad, he finally answered. “My sweet boy, are you okay?”
“I’m fine Dad. Are you okay? How are your horns? Did they hurt you?”
“I’m fine my sweet Toby. They ficked me up and gave me a room. A man told me I could see you tomorrow. I begged them to not hurt you. Did they harm you, son?” He asked with so much concern in his voice.
“I’m okay, they didn’t hurt me. I’m scared Dad. I really need you. Dad I love you.” I sobbed at that, very loudly in fact. I held my pillow, squeezing it for comfort. “What room are you in? I’m in Spades 7.”
“Clubs 52. I’d come to you, my sweet beautiful child, but I don’t know where the Spades cells are. As long as you are safe, and have a bed to sleep him, I’m happy. You should get sleep my beautiful Toby. We all need sleep. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
We mentally sent each other goodnights and I shut my eyes to sleep. Everything left my mind as the comfort of sleep engulfed me with warm welcoming arms.
Sorry this took awhile longer. I was sick, so it delayed my writing. Hope you enjoy!
